Trans Pennine Challenge

2 lads, 3 bikes, 1 trail, 309 miles and 3 days

Training

Let’s face it, both of us aren’t very fit and we’re certainly not physically active.

There’s no getting away from it; the Trans Pennine Trail is going to be hard work. We can’t just decide we’re going to go and cycle it at a rate of 85-100 miles a day without doing some preparation first.

We both live in different parts of the country: Rob near Sheffield and Terry near Mansfield, so over the coming months we’ll be individually making sure we keep to training plans and also making best efforts to ensure we’re eating the right foods. We’ll be meeting up on a regular basis to spend lengthy days out training (on the bikes) so that we’re used to riding long distances.

As we do this training we’re going to document how we progress with some basic checks against weight and stamina. We’re also going to write about our experiences and keep a bit of a photo diary going as too.
