2 weeks to go

We’re delighted with how the sponsorship has been coming in so far. Thanks to all who’ve contributed and made a real difference!

Two weeks today we’ll be out on the trail and well into the challenge. Next weekend Terry and I will be out together getting some last minute training - more than anything to make sure we can ride at a comfortable pace together.

We’ll soon be able to see what the weather predictions will be for the challenge. Fingers crossed for calm and dry weather.

3½ weeks to go!

Doesn’t time fly by! We’ll be getting saddled up and on the trail in just 3½ weeks time.

Our plans at the moment are to travel to Terry’s sister’s on the Wednesday night before the challenge. We can then leave hers around 5am to get to the start of the trail, in Southport, for a 6am. We figured that the earlier we start the more we’ll get through in one day. Perhaps we’ll even make it to Penistone on day one!

A few months ago I approached a few cycle shops hoping to secure some loan mountain bikes. Most, at the time, didn’t have anything other than road bikes available. Now that it’s closer to the time I intend to visit a store local to my work during a dinner hour to see if they’ve some demonstrator bikes they can lend us for the challenge. If they don’t we’re going to at least see if we can strike some sort of deal with them with regards to spares. We can do the challenge on our own bikes; however it’s going to be a lot more comfortable for us if we’re able to secure some (expensive) loan bikes. If you’re aware of someone that could help us with this then please get in touch! We’re happy to offer advertising on this site in return and will wear T-shirts etc. whilst riding.

In the meantime we’re working on getting our sponsorship increased. We’re really pleased with what we’ve had contributed so far. A massive thanks to all those who’ve opened their wallets and made a difference. If you’ve not done so yet then we’d be delighted if you please would by clicking this little link.

Cheers!

Changes to the route

We’ve been checking up on the TPT web site and it seems that there are some sections of the trail that are impassable at the moment due to flood damage. As far as we can see there are diversions wherever possible; however this means further to cycle - not to worry - more money for the charity where we’ve got per mile sponsorship from people!
