We need better equipment

We’re looking for some assistance with the kit that we’ll need to complete this challenge.

Two out of the three bikes we’re using at the moment are the kind you’d get for under £100 from Argos. They aren’t really suitable for our needs and can’t be expect to last.

We desperately need to get a bike shop or corporate sponsor on board, who could either loan or provide us with suitable bikes for the challenge. Ideally, we’d like to make use of the bikes we’d be doing the challenge on during the training months so that we’re used to the bikes, but we realise this isn’t always possible.

If you know a bike shop or business that’d be willing and able to help out with our challenge then we’d love to please hear from you. We don’t expect to keep any equipment ourselves. We just can’t afford to buy expensive, but suitable, equipment ourselves. Ideally we need three trail bikes with a range of suitable spares.

We’re more than prepare to put adverts for any equipment sponsor on to our website (has Google #1 rank) and to wear any promotional clothing etc whilst training or doing the challenge as appropriate.

You can get in touch either via rob@transpenninechallenge.co.uk or in response to this very post below.

Thanks!

Roughly five months to go

In a little over five months time the three of us intend to be out riding this challenge. I’ve personally ramped my training up and am working at a minimum of ten miles every other day. We’re intending to get together on a semi-regular basis in order to be able to have full days out.

We’re looking at doing some other smaller, non-ride events in order to be able to raise people’s awareness of our challenge and also in an effort to get money out of people’s pockets and into sponsorship. Unfortunately, lots of people seem happy enough to wish us well and “good luck” but aren’t prepared to follow up this well wishing with hard cash for the charity. How to convey this message without sounding rude is something we all need to work at and quickly so we can ensure we reach our £4,500 target.
